Xavier David’s taste treats for autumn and winter

French luxury fine food brand Xavier David has treats in store for the chilly times of the year. Products range from creamy cheeses from selected dairies or fettuccine with porcini mushrooms to aromatic products like traditional Chinese tea blends and orange and clementine preserves made from specially selected fruit. All these exclusive products are ideal for brightening up cold grey days in November or January.

Mont d’Or AOP Fermier

This farm-produced and unique Mont d’Or is allowed to mature for between four and six weeks in a ripening cellar to obtain its well-rounded and unique taste. Long. slow ripening gives a special authentic and very creamy texture. As you bite, you get a distinctive and powerful woody flavour. Mont d’Or Fermier is made from unpasturised milk from a single herd of Montbéliarde cows grazed in the Haut-Doubs region in the heart of the Jura mountains.

Roquefort AOP

In the village of Roquefort sur Soulzon, in southern France, Xavier David Roquefort is produced by a traditional method. The cheeses then ripen for five months in a cellar with a special microclimate. The penicillium roqueforti strain which gives this cheese its unparalleled aroma and texture is exclusive to Roquefort AOP Xavier David. The cheese is creamy with a buttery, flowery and fruity flavour that lingers on the palate.

Reblochon de Savoie AOP Fermier

This reblochon from the Savoy region in the foothills of the Alps stands for high quality and production in tight compliance with exacting guidelines. The cheese ripens for six weeks in the Paccard cheese dairy where it is handled only by hand. As it ripens slowly, the cheese develops a distinctive creamy consistency and a rustic rind. The cheese develops hazelnut note and fresh forest aromas. The Reblochon de Savoie AOP Fermier Xavier David is a cheese for any meal and it’s just right for potato gratins.

Trésor de Saint Pétersbourg tea

This traditional Russian black tea blend with a distinctive citrus note is a nostalgic dream. Its delicate aroma, dominated by bergamot, stands for perfect harmony. The tea, a brilliant blend of teas from India, Sri Lanka and China, is flavoured with five selected citrus fruits and the composition is also flavoured with fairtrade orange and strawberry leaves.

Fettuccine with porcini

This dish is a harmonious mix of traditional durum wheat  pasta from Brittany with extremely delicious mushrooms. The intensive aroma makes an ideal combination with strongly flavoured meat, such as venison. Or you can use this product to make a risotto with pasta – called pastasotto – by cooking the fettuccine in bouillon until all the liquid has been absorbed (approx 6 minutes).

Grand Lapsang Souchong tea

This ultra-delicate smoked tea with a light scent of pine is produced using a centuries old Chinese method from the Lapsang region. The warm and intensive aroma is created by smoking the leaves in hot steam produced by burning pine roots. This distinctive, vivid orange-red tea is perfect with hearty winter food. Drink it pure or add a few leaves to other kinds of tea to create a spicy, smoky flavour.

Orange or clementine preserve

Xavier David preserves are made in Alsace using premium fruit. For these jams, Nicole Legoll, Xavier David’s experienced preserve master, prefers the “Mademoiselle” brand of fruit chosen on the local fruit markets. The intensively aromatic clementines and oranges give the preserves a rich fruity flavour underlined by a gentle sweetness.

Xavier David products can be bought in many specialist food shops.

In Germany, for example, at Rizzo in Cologne, Olio Ceto in Hanover, Culinarium Solln in Munich, Atrium Feinkost in Bremen, Böhm GmbH in Stuttgart, La bottega dei Sapori in Passau, Te Park in Hamburg.
