A big start up at Salone del Mobile of Milan for company Alchemy, Egyptian brand founded in 1997 by Karim Mekhtigian to propose a new idea of design, able to communicate the cultural and creative ferment of his country.

During the Milan appointment proposed by MEET MY PROJECT, Alchemy proposes three icon pieces of its production able to combine style and manufacturing know how, in a no end dialogue between the two coast of Mediterranean sea: in this atmosphere happens that the elegance of the  chaise longue Gouna by Francesco Rota meets the lightness of the Cohabitation, a lounge chair designed by Karim Mekhtigian, who also signed the table Thin Things.

This kind of contaminations are also explored at the exhibition proposed by MEET MY PROJECT, which takes place 4 time a year in Paris, Milan ,Stockholm , during the most important furniture fairs – Maison & Object furniture Fair and Stockholm furniture fair. Around the theme of ”Co-existence“, takes shape the selection of objects presented during the events of 2013 by a group of international designers with the intention to investigate the ability of the design to interact with their users, transmit values and influence with habits.

For this reason Alchemy found in MEET MY PROJECT and the issue addressed this year, the ideal sets to present its products as a result of contamination between East and West.

An international mood discovered in the first draft presented at the Fuorisalone 2013: Gouna is the chaise longue by Francesco Rota and it develops sinuous lines on a thin steel base. The feeling of lightness is emphasized by the large form of the shell made of glass fiber and the softness of the leather cover, which surrounding the seat. An object evocative and sinuous, able to adapt  at the same time to domestic space and  working space.

Founded in 1997 by Karim Mekhtigian as interior studio, Alchemy grew over the years with the arrival of Mohamed Fares to become a real brand, internationally recognized, able to develop all aspects of design integrated in the dialectic between form and expression.
