Nine styles from around the world bring exotic design ideas into your home

Maisons du Monde – Houses of the World – is bringing out an exciting new catalogue. Available in April it will show you some incomparable interior design styles with influences from many countries, continents and epochs. You’ll find home furnishings with everything from oriental decoration to romantic baroque styles, along with classics from the 50s and 60s in vintage look. You can mix and match to create your own personal style for your home. There’s such a huge choice of furniture and decorative elements that you’ll never run out of ideas.

New freshness in a classical design

Reduced design and a clear language of shapes and forms are hallmarks of the style in the 1950s. Maisons du Monde combines them with copper, the latest trend colour, and presents the desk lamp COPPER in the new favourite colour of all design fans. Another highlight is the wind light ANTIGONE, also part of the copper trend. The refreshingly elegant and timeless TROCADERO dressing table is made of solid mango wood. The integrated mirror in the middle top makes it a space special. Combine it with the vintage WATERLOO chair made of leather and plastic for a reinterpretation of the retro look.

Country house style

Traditional furniture designs and motifs that reflect the world of animals and plants are hallmarks of the new country house style. Maisons du Monde brings the countryside into your home – whether you live in the city, town or in the country. There’s the CHABLIS china cabinet, for example, with ample space for glasses, plateware and cutlery. You can display your favourite coffee service and your best table linen to good effect behind its three glass doors. The LEANDRE table top is ash veneer while the base is white shabby chic. It will bring a feel of the old countryside into your home. It’s big enough to function as extra working surface in the kitchen or as a table where the whole family can gather for a meal. Special decorative elements like the USSAR horse figure look urbane in your own home. The CHANTECLER picture with the cocks in a white wooden frame behind wire netting creates a cheery atmosphere.

Space miracle

The 2015 Maisons du Monde catalogue also has a huge choice of storage solutions and storage furniture. The PAUILLAC console table demonstrates convincingly that it’s entirely possible to maintain a balance between contemporary interior design trends and an antique look. With its drawers, table surfaces and the practical rattan baskets, it offers a welcome amount of storage space, whether you install it in your entrance hall or in your living room. Another piece of stylish storage furniture is the roller-mounted FES chest of drawers made of mango wood. With two ornamented drawers and different knobs it not only offers ample storage, but also stars as a highly personal piece of furniture. All fans of natural wood and the used look will want to install the MISTRAL bedside table on rollers to give their bedrooms a special charm. Then there’s the exotic SOHO sideboard made of sheesham wood. This is tough wood, resistant to impacts and scratches, so it’s ideal for a sideboard where you’re always putting things down. There’s ample storage space behind the three doors and the angled feet give it that special vintage look.

Modern classics and unusual designs

The courage to be colourful is rewarded at Maisons du Monde. The aniseed green of the BROADWAY pullout three-seater sofa-bed will bring vivid freshness into your living room. This elegant sofa-bed, a pleasure to sit on and sleep on, has angled legs in a nod to retro style. It creates an inviting and hospitable atmosphere. VICOMTE is a classical chandelier that adds romantic and flair to a living or dining room.

Another highlight is the upholstered KELTON chair in petrol blue. The chair will enchant you, not only with its brilliant colour, but because it’s so comfortable to sit in. Unusual deco objects give your home an individual charm. or consider the ROSACE wall mirror. With its curving frame it’s a unique piece of wall decoration. Made of bamboo, the mirror brings a hint of the exotic into your home and invites you to dream. The picture OSCAR with its gold-painted wooden frame will be sure to bring a smile to your face. Who wouldn’t smile at a picture of a dog with a shirt and tie painted in the style of an old master?
