Kesseböhmer’s ergoAGENT base lifts kitchen islands

For many years, doctors and occupational health experts have been advocating having worksurfaces – in factories and offices – at the right height for the height of the user and the task in hand. And why shouldn’t this apply to the kitchen as well, after all it’s been called “the biggest workplace in the world”.

Good ergonomics in the kitchen

ergoAGENT base is engineered to meet this need. Putting kitchen base units onto ergoAGENT base lifters creates a kitchen island that can be steplessly lifted or lowered at the touch of a button to a comfortable working height for each different user. This makes working in the kitchen easier and also easier on your back. If you’re doing fiddly work and/or you’re going to be working for a long time, it’s best to choose a height that will let you stand upright rather than bent over, because it’s ergonomically better for your back. You can work out your ideal working height in this case for yourself. Research has shown that it is 10 to 15 cm below the height of your bent elbow. On the other hand, if you’re doing work where you have to exert pressure, like kneading dough, having the worksurface in a lower position lets you work more efficiently using more of your body weight. In the lowest position, the ergoAGENT base takes the worksurface to a comfortable height for eating, doing homework or playing board games.

ergoAGENT – covering all the bases

To relieve stress on the spine and feet, occupational health specialists have also long recommended frequent changes in working position, alternating between standing and sitting. A height adjustable kitchen island on ergoAGENT base can satisfy this recommendation as well. So an ergoAGENT island is equally good as a standing or sitting workplace, as a breakfast bar or a place to sit and have a cup of coffee.
