Mönchweiler (rs) – Last Thursday, the Gruner + Jahr magazines SCHÖNER WOHNEN,  ESSEN & TRINKEN and LIVING AT HOME presented the White Star Awards for the second time in Cologne. The magazines  had asked their readers to vote for innovative  products and forward-looking designs on the theme of “the kitchen”. The editorial teams nominated 109 products from the fields of tableware and  kitchen furniture/appliances to choose from, divided into 11 categories.

Votes were received from 15,875 readers. In front of 120 invited  guests from the worlds of hospitality, advertising and the media, 33 prize-winners received the  White Star in gold, silver or bronze. The design prize ceremony was  held at the “bauwerk Köln” venue, with the editors-in-chief of the  three huge publications taking to the stage as guest speakers.

The winner of the gold White Star Award 2009 for the  “Kitchen Furniture” category was the “zeyko accento vitrin” range. This kitchen model, like the entire zeyko collection, was created by the company’s in-house design department and  is produced in full at the Mönchweiler site. In winning this award,  the kitchen manufacturer from the Black Forest finds itself  moving in the same impressive circles as internationally renowned brands. Other  categories were won by Jacob Jensen,  >Auerhahn, Riedel, Alessi, Zwilling, Rolf Benz, Hülsta, Jura, AEG and Miele.

“The White Star Award has the toughest jury in the industry, namely the  readers of SCHÖNER WOHNEN, ESSEN & TRINKEN and LIVING AT HOME. They are interested in design, but there is one thing they are certainly not:  corruptible. Over 15,000 people cast their votes. Our prize-winners should be really proud of their awards,” explains Julia  Jäkel, Managing Director of the G+J Exclusive & Living publishing group.
