Spices under control with the GEFU spice infuser

Winter is the time for mulled wine and winter punch. And homemade mulled wine is easy to make and you can flavour it just the way you like. The GUSTO spice infuser makes sure the spices you use develop their full aroma. Equally important are the practicality and stylish good looks of this delightful kitchen gadget.

GUSTO is a practical allrounder

It’s a stainless steel infuser, like a superior kind of tea egg. For one thing, you can adjust it easily to four different sizes. It’s versatile too: drop it into the pot full of herbs and spices when you’re making soups, ragouts and stews. Extended, there’s space for long bay leaves or cinnamon sticks. The clever silicone cord lets you attach it to the handle of any cooking pot, so you never lose it in the hot liquid. Made of stainless steel, the spice infuser is completely dishwasher safe – the two halves are simply unscrewed and washed separately, but held together by the silicone cord, so that you’ll never stand with one half in your hands searching for the other.

Recipe for perfect mulled wine

The GUSTO spice infuser takes a lot of the effort out of making mulled wine. Try this recipe: 8 cardamom seeds, 10 whole cloves, 10 allspice seeds, 4 star aniseed seeds, 1 stick of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground coriander, 1 teaspoon aniseed, 1 litre dry red wine, 1 unwaxed orange, sugar. Put all the spices into the infuser. Hang it into a saucepan containing the red wine and 500 ml water and heat almost to boiling point. Wash the orange in hot water, cut it 1/2-1 cm thick slices, drop the slices into the saucepan and simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove the spice strainer and add sugar to taste.
