Small and very special gifts

What can I take along to a garden party, or give to the neighbour who looks after my post or to my friend to cheer her up? There are always opportunities for giving small surprise gifts in between the big events. Nothing is nicer than to see the recipients eyes light up! Here are a few ideas for gifts that are sure to make someone happy:

Fine fragrances and a long tradition

Cire Trudon was founded in 1643 in Paris and can well claim to be the world’s oldest and most prestigious candle manufacturer. The candles are still made in France exclusively by hand. The glasses into which the scented wax is filled come from Venetian glassblowers. The classic collection includes candles in 20 different perfumes based on centuries-old formulas. In addition, Cire Trudon produces limited editions of special perfumes which are offered in beautifully-coloured coloured glasses with metallic labels. Each candle will burn for between 60 and 80 hours. True to history, the director Sofia Coppola used candles from Cire Trudon to light the Palace of Versailles in her opulent film about the life of Marie-Antoinette. The British artist Lawrence Mynott has produced a series of his witty, detailed drawings enhancing the associations with the candle perfumes, such as the new Bartolomé.

They come in all sizes and shapes, with spiky thorns or soft prickles, but cacti from the world’s deserts are an easy-care, decorative accessory for your home. All they need is the occasional drop of water and they’ll reward you with vigorous growth and now and again a vivid flower. And if you’re looking for eye-catching pots to grow them in, try EGAN’s Disney range. These colourful pots made of high-quality Italian porcelain could be just the thing. Decorated with Mickey, Minnie and Donald motifs drawn in the lively style of Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art, they’re sure to appeal to everyone who has ever enjoyed the escapades of these comic characters.
