The power of pattern

Fashion has already succumbed to the lure of pattern and the shops are full of brilliant designs. Flowers, ethno, paisley or zigzag – patterned prints are booming for slacks and skirts, dresses and blouses. And Selektion chinaware from Gmundner Keramik Design demonstrates that exciting patterns are exactly right for trendy contemporary homes.

A strong and dynamic design. The sophisticated patterning of the rim makes a strong impact. The gay, mobile design asks for harmony – or contrasts. The striking colour choices – apple green, red and orange – for the tightly patterned edge makes a powerful statement.

To create harmony between unique craftsmanship and contemporary expectations, you could combine this design with modern pieces or retro objects. Individual chic can be the result of mixing objects from the sixties with a couple of modern pieces. The interplay of simple, clear forms and strong colours like black, white and red make a striking graphic statement which is perfectly interpreted by this design.

This contemporary eye-catcher was created by hand in the Gmundner factory in the beautiful Salzkammergut in Austria. After painting the careful background stroke in the colour of choice – with the brush and a steady hand – the white pattern is applied using a special tool. Each piece is as individual as the designer’s painting technique. The border background colour is available in a choice of ruby red, orange and apple green. Fashionable and chic– just the way you’d like your home to be.
